Herb Compound Butter

herb butter

Flavored butters are such a treat! They are a really fantastic way to use up herbs that would otherwise go bad…and can be used for so many different things!

Wether you are going the sweet or savory route, there really is only one rule when it comes to making your own…DON’T MELT THE BUTTER, SOFTEN IT…

whipped butter

Leave your brick of butter sitting out on the counter and let it become room temperature on it’s own. If you melt the butter, it won’t go back to that beautiful buttery look that you know and love…

butter & parchment

Simply mix in whatever flavor combination you wish…(here I used lemon zest, crushed red pepper flakes, rosemary and thyme)

butter roll

Place the butter in to the center of a sheet of parchment paper and bring up both sides.

pressed butter

Press butter in to the center, creating a log. The tighter the better, you want to prevent air pockets…

rolled butter

Twist up both ends nice and tight, making sure not to tear the ends…

twisted ends

Place your herb butter compound in to the refrigerator to harder for 2 hours before serving, and enjoy it for up to 2 weeks! Good luck not eating it before that though…

*Ignore the burn across my fingers…it was a real bummer…but even more of a bummer in all these photos!!
