Chocolate Dipped Halloween Pretzels

If you don’t already know, I can’t bake. There, I said it. I’ve tried. The result is never good. Here is a fun way to get around baking. A no-bake dessert!

I would love to act like these were easy but they weren’t. Don’t get me wrong, they are do-able but I was surprised at how challenging the chocolate was to work with. I really do have a whole new respect for chocolatiers.

One of my nearest and dearest (Carly Allen-Martin check out her work, she’s fab!) ¬†came in to town to visit last weekend and we spent a couple hours getting in to the halloween spirit by decorating pretzels. Carly is such a talented artist, I can’t think of anyone better to do this with. The result? Creative, colorful and tasty halloween treats!

 

I feel like nothing beats a salty chocolate peanut butter combo. So I would suggest if your only going to make one flavor, choose the white chocolate with peanut butter drizzle. The white chocolate was also much easier to work with than the traditional chocolate.

Here is how to make these chocolate bats…

What you need:

Pretzel rods

Halloween style sprinkles

I found ready-to-make bags of chocolate at Michael’s, but a bag of semi sweet chocolates is great too

A cooling rack (perfect size to stand up the pretzels while they cool)

Icing bags & nozzle

How to:

In a small bowl melt you chocolate for 40 seconds in the microwave..No longer!! If the chocolate gets too hot it becomes unworkable. Tilting the bowl towards you, dip the pretzel rod all the way in to the bowl, very slowly twisting it on your way out. This will give the chocolate a smoother finish. While chocolate is still wet, decorate with your sprinkles of choice. If drizzling, drizzle across the top of the sprinkles. Place on rack to cool.
