Bacon Wrapped Dates

Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese are…to put it simply… sinful. They are rich, salty, sweet and bite size! They are the perfect dinner party appetizer (let’s be honest, they make a great dessert too). Let me explain why.

1st. Even though their preparation is a little lengthy it can be done ahead of time.

2nd They require little to no attention during the baking/cooking process.

3rd Fact. EVERYONE (veggies excluded) will love them.

Even the people that claim that they don’t like blue cheese will love these little piggies so much that your dinner party will actually sit around talking about them. How good they are… how you made them… and why you on earth you didn’t make more.

Since they are a more substantial snack, they also make a great choice if you have men in attendance.

*Beware they are NOT healthy. I repeat, NOT healthy…but defiantly not to be missed…so let the boys eat a few more than you do*

**These dates can be vegetarian friendly as well! Just Skip the bacon. Then to add the crunch that the bacon provided, mix some crushed pecans into the blue cheese.**

What you need:

-Pitted dates

(pitted is important, no one wants to chew around a seed)

-A good quality bacon

(you won’t get the same result with a turkey bacon, but good thinking!)

-A creamy blue cheese

How to:

-Pre-heat your over to 375 degrees

-Slice your date (no, not your boyfriend) about 3/4 of the way down

-With your knife, press desired amount of blue cheese into the center of the date

-Wrap a 3-4 inch long strip of bacon around date, just enough to wrap all the way around but don’t double it up.

(my bacon required some trimming, I used kitchen scissors)

-Slide a toothpicks through the middle

(at an angle works well because they need to be flipped halfway through)

-Arrange on baking sheet

-Pop those babies in the over

-Bake for 15-20 minutes

(until browned)

-Flip them over and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
